Helpful information for veterans and families

Personal care

Not at all. You can contact us directly to organise care for yourself or a loved one. If you’re receiving support through a Home Care Package or DVA program, we’re happy to work with your case manager or provider to make sure the right services are in place.

Personal care covers everyday tasks — like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and getting around safely. It’s all about supporting your independence while respecting your privacy and preferences.

Yes. We’ll work with you to set up times that suit your routine — whether it’s morning shower support, assistance at mealtimes, or help with winding down in the evening.

That’s completely natural. Our carers are trained to deliver support with dignity and sensitivity. We always take things at your pace, ensure clear communication, and prioritise comfort and trust above all else.

Respite care

Respite care is short-term in-home support designed to give primary carers a break. Whether it’s for a few hours, overnight, or several days, a trained Harwell carer will step in to support your loved one, helping with personal care, medication prompts, meals, and companionship, so you can take time for yourself with peace of mind.

We support private clients and are also an approved provider of in-home respite care under the Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) program. If you or your loved one is a DVA Gold or White Card holder, we can guide you through eligibility and arrange services accordingly.

Yes. Before respite care begins, we take the time to understand your loved one’s medical needs, routines, preferences, and personality. This helps us provide consistent, person-centred care — even during short visits — so both carer and client feel at ease.

Not at all. We offer daytime, overnight, and weekend respite support, depending on your needs and location. Whether you’re stepping out for a few hours or planning a longer break, we’ll tailor a schedule that works for you.

We understand that emergencies happen. If you need last-minute respite care due to illness, work, or an unexpected event, call us directly. Our team will move quickly to assess the situation and provide support where available.

Palliative care

Palliative care can start at any stage of a serious illness — even alongside active treatment. We tailor support to what you need, when you need it most.

Absolutely. We walk with families too — offering guidance, emotional support, and a calm space to breathe. You’re not alone in this.

We help manage symptoms, ease discomfort, and offer meaningful emotional support. It includes help with medications, hygiene, nutrition, and more — always delivered with dignity.

Yes. Continuity matters. Wherever possible, we assign a consistent care team who know your needs, preferences, and story.

Night services

Sleepover care provides a carer present and available if needed, while active care involves regular tasks through the night — like toileting, repositioning, or giving medications.

We’re flexible. Some clients use night care regularly, while others only need it during illness, recovery, or holidays. We’ll work with your schedule.

Our carers are trained to move quietly, use low lighting, and provide discreet assistance to maintain a calm sleep space.

Yes. We’re an approved provider for both DVA Community Nursing and Veterans’ Home Care (VHC), including overnight support where eligible.

Attendant care

Attendant Care refers to hands-on support with personal tasks like showering, dressing, eating, and mobility. It’s commonly used by people living with disability or recovering from serious injury.

No. Attendant Care is delivered by support workers and focuses on non-clinical personal care. If you need medical support (e.g., wound care or injections), we can provide qualified nursing through our clinical care team.

It’s available through NDIS plans, TAC (Transport Accident Commission), or privately funded arrangements. We’ll help you determine eligibility and navigate your funding.

Yes. Our team is trained in high-support care, including hoist transfers, behavioural care plans, and overnight assistance. We’ll match you with staff experienced in your specific needs.
