Once you have a Support at Home classification, you choose who delivers your care. You are not assigned a provider, you are not limited to the first one suggested, and you can change later if it is not working. That choice matters more than most people expect, because it decides who walks through your door each week.
Most providers describe themselves in similar language, so the differences that matter are practical. Ask how many different workers you are likely to see in a month. Ask who answers the phone when something changes on a Saturday. Ask what proportion of your budget goes on care hours rather than administration, and ask for that in writing.
The most common complaint about in-home care is a revolving roster: a different face each visit, and starting the explanation again every time. Continuity comes from how a provider staffs and rosters, not from a promise on a website, so it is fair to ask directly how it is achieved and what happens when your regular carer is unwell.
If you already have a provider and it is not working, you can move, and your classification and funding go with you. You give notice under your current agreement, agree a start date with the new provider, and the two handle the transfer between them. Harwell can manage that process so there is no gap in your care.
We build small, consistent care teams around each client rather than filling shifts from a pool, with clinical oversight behind every care plan. We would rather you asked us the questions above than took our word for it.
